“Happy spring everyone. BC Parks has asked me to pass on their appreciation and gratitude for all the work that we have done the last couple of years. May 6th Trail Day was a huge success, the second phase of Gingerly is “SWEET SINGLETRACK” and great for the novice rider…. I could not believe so much was accomplished in 1 day.. you all are incredible!! Just think of what we can accomplish next…. we are reviewing our next new trail proposal with Parks and will keep you posted. NOCS is currently working on signage for Gingerly and an updated Cosens Creek trail map.
Just a reminder…. for your personal safety… please don’t do any digging in the ground in Kal Park without approval from NOCS as there were UXO’s located on the new trail which alerted the Dept. of National Defence and there is still great potential for danger.
A couple of things you need to know…..
FIRST, Skyride Cycle is having a Rocky Mountain Demo day at Ellison next Sunday, May 27th, 10:00 – 2:00. Everyone is welcome to come out and Ride a Rocky!
Vernon Tourism has requested “high resolution” photos of mountain biking in Kal Park/Cosens Creek and Ellison for publication in the West Coast Winds magazine. If you have a high res. photo please forward it to me by the end of the day this Wednesday (May 23rd) and I will pass them on to Vernon Tourism.
Anyone wanting to join the NOCS Bike to Work Week Team contact Cindy Garvin at garveron@telus.net.
2012 Memberships are available at Sun Country Cycle, Skyride and Olympia (or you can mail it in). I understand we have had a small issue with online registrations; we are working to correct that and apologize for the inconvenience.
There has been a request for beginner/intermediate weekly ladies rides and NOCS is looking for someone who may be interested in organizing this for the month of June and possible throughout the summer; please contact me if you are interested.
Also, there have been requests for a NOCS newsletter and NOCS is looking for someone who would like to volunteer for this as well.
Our next board meeting is Thursday, May 31st 6:15 at Blenz Coffee downtown. If you are interested in helping out the Club in any capacity, or just want to come to the meeting, you are very welcome to do so.
Updated information on the ladies ride and a general Club update will be sent out/posted on the website after the meeting.
That’s all for now.
Enjoy the long weekend, the sunshine and the trails!!.
Cynthia”
